www.juegos.tv stands out as unique in its kind, as well as the latest work by Raven Software: Singularity may be a revelation video game of the year.
As you move a couple of weeks ago, the legendary Raven Software was finalizing his latest work, a first-person shooter that mixes horror and science fiction in equal parts to get the peculiar name, never better, Singularity. We control Nate Renko, a pilot sent to the abandoned, allegedly, city Katorga-12 special mission. Once there, Renko discovers that Katorga12, besides not being abandoned, has a dangerous material capable of destroying the world: the element E99.
Element E99 was a discovery of the former Soviet Union of Stalin, as the perfect mirror to American nuclear technology. While the destructive capacity of E99 was evident, so was his unhealthy instability and his uncanny ability to change over time. A failed experiment led to a phenomenon known as "the singularity", and from there, Katorga 12 became off-limits to any human being ... until we arrived, of course.
Singularity is an old school shooter who drinks two of the great successes of this generation: TimeShift and BioShock. The first covers, no doubt, the game that gives the use of time, although in the case of Singularity is, if anything, more attractive still, we carry on the wrist a device known as DMT, able to channel the energy of the element E99 to certain objects or enemies. As a result, we can manipulate parts of the scenario to solve puzzles of all kinds, changing the mass of an object or rejuvenating aging at our whim.
In the case of BioShock, Singularity advocates a very similar atmosphere, with a Katorga 12 that has long been abandoned, a victim of strange phenomena, like Rapture. No shortage of audio files or movies with a 50s graphic style almost identical to that shown in the game of Irrational Games. Even the use of kits will be the same and can store and use them whenever necessary. We may also improve the weapons as special materials to find another detail of the great BioShock imported. The fact that they inspire in these titles is not at all bad, because it takes the best from each of them so the end result is outstanding, and he succeeds. Not very original, but being original is not a mandatory requirement to become good.
As a complement to the story mode, we find a multiplayer for up to 12 players and to be honest, it is almost testimonial for his parsimony: only two modes of play that we know very little, but stresses especially one that pits soldiers against monsters . However, good quality and staging of Singularity has won him whole and be one of the most pleasant surprises this year 2010.
